GreenPower Motor Company produces a full suite of high-floor and low-floor all-electric heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship model, and it can be customized to meet a variety of applications. The platform's design is based on a simple paper sheet, which allows for optimum positioning of the battery pack and a lower center of gravity. This leads to better payload/range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The refrigerated trucks in class 4 with a single wall structure inside, and higher insulation than conventional trucks, allows for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer life span. The EV Star REEFERX has a higher capacity for cargo, and an industry-leading payload to allow for zero emission transport of passengers or goods.
GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems that will enable fleets to transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star can also be wirelessly charging up to 75 kW.
We were able to test drive the EV9 on an unpaved highway for several hours, and found it to be simple to drive and comfortable to drive over long distances. GreenPower is already producing about 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is attempting to replace their fleet of older diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the needs of the Biden Administration, which is looking to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA compliant.
